Effective Christian teachers are essential in changing society for the better. Uganda is looking to schools to develop citizens of integrity who will help build the country on a solid foundation. Pacific Academy Outreach Society believes in the importance of training teachers who want to make a difference in Uganda by teaching with integrity from a biblical worldview. Our commitment is first of all to help teachers understand and practice living out a biblical worldview themselves. Secondly, teachers must have the skills to also teach their students from this perspective and to challenge them to see the meaning in everything they study in relation to God.
Christian teachers have many opportunities each day to instil biblical values of honesty, cooperation, compassion, forgiveness, justice and diligence into their students’ lives. In order to do this, they must do more than merely teach the government curriculum in isolation but must model these values personally and help students to connect these values to the academic content they are learning in every subject. Most Christian teachers have never been trained in values integration and these opportunities are lost. The Timothy Centre teacher and leadership training programs aim to help teachers take advantage of every opportunity God gives to change students’ lives.
