After almost 10 years of planning and hard work the Timothy Centre in Masaka, Uganda is now under construction.
Drawing on the experiences learnt during 19 years of service at the Kibaale Community Centre in Uganda (www.kibaale.net), Pacific Academy through the Pacific Academy Outreach Society (PAOS) is developing the Timothy Centre. The goal is to support the current work in Uganda and to expand the ministry to effectively impact other groups and communities in Uganda and beyond.
Timothy Girls High School: a boarding school to accommodate up to 300 plus senior high girls. (A boy’s school will be built on a separate property in the future)
Teacher - Leadership Training Centre: offering training and mentoring based on a Christian worldview.
Entrepreneurship Centre: aimed at the encouragement of sustainable businesses and job creation. The Centre will provide training in sound business practices.
Guest house and Eco Tourism Centre: focused on encouraging an appreciation for God’s creation while at the same time creating job opportunities and generate revenues to support the operation of the centre.
Demonstration and teaching farm: focused on improving sustainability and profitability for local farmers. Already work has started on improving subsistence farming methods and introducing honey production as a source of income.
Thanks to the help of Engineering Ministries International (eMi) a master plan has been developed. The infrastructure has been put in place including main roads, drainage and a storage/ maintenance building. We will be using a combination of power sources including—national, solar and generator.
Construction is completed on the first phase of the guest housing which is being used partially for staff during the development stages with a limited eco-tourism program to start late in 2011. The cost of construction for phase 1 of the development is estimated at just over $1.6 million. Over 90% of this amount has been committed leaving just $150,000 still to be raised. Construction of the school administration block, a classroom block and a double dormitory has started. Buildings are not started until all the funding is in place.
For nearly 20 years The Pacific Academy Outreach Society (PAOS) has been working effectively in Africa stretching every dollar to obtain maximum benefit. PAOS is unique in that we guarantee 100% of your donation goes to the project for which it is designated. All administrative costs are covered either by Pacific Academy or from other non-donation sources.
On this website you will find information on the project and ways you can become involved with PAOS and the Timothy Centre in providing “Education that changes lives and communities.”
