By 1992, seven years after Pacific Academy was established, the number of outreach activities the students and staff were involved in had increased to the point where the decision was taken to establish a separate society to handle the outreach ministries of Pacific Academy. In January 1993 the "Pacific Academy Outreach society" (PAOS) was officially registered. PAOS is operated by a board appointed by the Pacific Academy board.
Over the years the number and range of ministries has steadily expanded as the board and leadership have committed themselves to fulfilling the vision "To be Global Servants in Christian Education".
PAOS encompasses two general categories of initiatives: service projects, which includes the Kibaale Community Project in Uganda; and international programs which includes ESL programs at Pacific Academy and an ESL initiative in Taiwan.
PAOS is very pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jon Imbeau to the position of Director of Service Projects. The growth of the work at Kibaale and the start of the Timothy Project in 2008 has made it necessary to provide support and help for Ray Sutton as Executive Director. Ray will continue to give oversight to all PAOS activities including the Kibaale and Timothy projects in Uganda. In his new position, Jon will be taking increasing responsibility for the direction and day-to-day operation of the work in Uganda. Jon comes to us from a pastoral position in Vancouver, where he gave oversight to a small project in Uganda. With 2 children currently attending Pacific Academy, he has a passion for missions and a strong commitment to PA and PAOS.
